Lawmakers under the umbrella of the Northern Senators Forum (NSF) have issued a stern response to the latest violent attacks in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, declaring that routine sympathies from authorities are no longer enough to address the ongoing bloodshed.
In an official statement led by Forum Chairman Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, the caucus expressed deep outrage over the persistent loss of innocent lives and demanded concrete, decisive military intervention to restore peace to the region.

- End to “Routine Condolences”: Senators stressed that press releases offering sympathies provide zero security to vulnerable farming communities continuously targeted by armed aggressors.
- Overhaul of Security Operations: The Forum called on the Federal Government and the military high command to deploy additional tactical units and restructure operational strategies tailored to Plateau State’s volatile terrain.
- Proactive Intelligence: Law enforcement agencies must shift from reactive responses to proactive intelligence gathering to intercept coordinated raids before they occur.
- Justice and Prosecution: Lawmakers insisted on the immediate arrest and rigorous prosecution of perpetrators to break the long-standing cycle of impunity in the North-Central region.
“Our people cannot continue to live under the constant shadow of death while official responses remain confined to repeated messages of condolence. The time for passive condemnation is over; what Mangu needs now is swift, uncompromising operational action.”
The lawmakers pledged to leverage their legislative power to push for enhanced funding, advanced hardware for frontline troops, and stricter oversight of military operations. They warned that failing to decisively neutralize criminal elements in Mangu risks further destabilizing the broader region.
